Westford Man Charged in Crash that Killed Two in Littleton

Man charged in 2012 crash that left Groton and Dunstable residents dead.

A Westford man has been charged with two counts of negligent motor vehicle homicide.

Keith Lamarre, 21, of Westford, was arraigned Friday in Ayer District Court, the Middlesex district attorney’s office said. The charges come after an 11-month State Police investigation of a single-car driving accident that left two people dead and Lamarre uninjured.

Lamarre reportedly drove his 2001 Ford truck into a utility pole early on Sept. 2. His two passengers were thrown from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims were 21-year-olds Taylor Deluca, of Groton, and Richard Mitchell, of Dunstable.

“This was a horrific crash which took the lives of two young people,” said Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan. “It is made all the more tragic because it was preventable.”

In addition to the two counts of motor vehicle homicide, Lamarre was charged with speeding, marked lanes violation, failure to wear a seat belt and tire tread depth violation.

Lamarre and his two friends allegedly left a house party in Littleton, stopped at a Mobil gas station and continued west on Great Road. Authorities believe Lamarre was driving fast as one friend sat in the middle seat and the other on the passenger side.

Lamarre, released on his own recognizance, is due back in court Oct. 18. The judge ordered that he not drive or contact the victims' families.
