And speaking of increased level of services, the actual 2010 spending for systemwide Special Education tuition was $1.476M and the proposed budget for 2014 is $2.403M. Can the school department provide some detail on that one?

It would be interesting to know the breakdown of the increase in staff since 2006. How many are classroom teachers? How many are administrators? How many are SPED teachers/aides?

Hi Andrew. Any chance you could find the average age of Westford's teachers to compare that to Westford's average salary? Given the salary structure, younger teachers are likely to skew the data. It's better to compare salaries based on years of experience and degree attained.

What happens when teachers want full steps and we don't have the finances? That's an easy one...teacher layoffs and other school department layoffs. You can't have what you won't pay for. It will be interesting to see if a prop 2 1/2 override passes. I'll be voting "no."

Kudos to WA!
But I chuckled when I saw the WA tweet that said the Newsweek survey ranks WA as 5th best in the state of Massachusetts. What isn't mentioned is that most of Westford's academic competitors didn't even bother to participate in the survey. Lexington, Acton-Boxborough, Wellesley, Newton South, Sharon, Wayland, Weston, Needham, Lincoln-Sudbury...
