ReplyThe soap opera continues. That is one very interesting school. Continues to give Malden a shot of unneeded drama.

ReplyI have another article in the pipeline in the Patch. I have no idea when or if it will see the light of day on the front page.

ReplyMy article was written in response to events from last week. The article is in response to the Salon article of last week about White Americans. The bombing and capture of the bombers happened within “last week”.
My article was written last week. The Patch did not publicly publish my article on its front page till this week. See publication date of article above, Thursday, April 18.
The Patch allows a blog section for residents to write about anything within reason. I chose to write about aspects of last week’s events, when last week was still this week(last week), except it isn’t last week anymore, when everyone started reading it. Clear? You asked and I answered all reasonable questions. -

If the Daily Caller or any other news type publication has done the same thing last week or during this terrorist episode, let me know where and I will call them out as well for this. I hadn't heard anything like this happening elsewhere yet.

ReplyYou're right. It is Salon. But it does have a following. Millions of people are reading that and many are believing it, even if some of us don't. When a news outlet actively advocates for blaming a specific racial or ethnic group and no one questions it, we are all at risk.

We are not disagreeing at all. But you are bringing up an issue that is for another thread. This topic is about White Americans being targeted for blame, before any evidence or facts are known. The difference between speculating who is a killer vs hoping who the killer is, is a treacherous line in the news media. Somebody needs to bring that up. My personal opinion is there are some sensitive elements of group guilt, that need to be addressed.
If it becomes "normal" to hope that a specific group of people are always guilty of murder to spare some other group in some convoluted rational, we've lost whatever way we had left as a country.
Many posts on the Patch in other columns are debating the speculation issue. Just look at the columns discussing the harassment of the Muslim woman in Malden this past weekend. That is not an easy topic to discuss. People are blinded by ideology. I'm hoping readers are not blinded by ideology in this column on this topic as well. -

True. Please clarify your intent though. Do you agree that white Americans should be blamed before the fact? Should the news media "Hope" that the killers are white Americans before any facts are known? If that is your belief, please clarify.
