A very small slice of the taxpaying population actually use or will use bike paths. Why force everyone to pay for something only a few enjoy? How about licensing bikes that use bike paths and pay for the paths that way?

Yep, I see that constantly, particularly on the back roads around the Concord area. There are a LOT of arrogant bike riders out there, unfortunately giving the good ones a bad rep also.

Actually, I think this validates the "More Money does NOT make the Schools Better" argument. As pointed out by many, Westford has a pretty low expenditure per student compared to the rest of the state. I'm sure it could be even lower and still keep the education quality up there.

Steve,
While your at it, see what you can do about getting The town out o the fruit stand business. Yep, we subsidize a fruit stand with taxpayer money, competing with local farmers. A goofy waste of money, but keeps the town's old timey "character", according to a few on some town committees. -

Overreacting or grandstanding, we do not need officials who indulge in either. Bob, like many addicts of local politics, has spent a lot of time involved with the town for better or worse. However, it's time to get some "new" blood and hopefully new ideas on the board. Out with the old, in with the new!

ReplyTime for a change. Town is facing a big time fiscal problem, Bob and Andrea have both been there while it has been brewing. I haven't seen any creative, proactive leadership to try to avoid this fiscal issue from them. Let's give others a chance to see if they can do better.
As far as the gun issue, what a complete waste of valuable time and attention on an issue that, while having merit, does not belong with the BoS. Don't know his intent, but if it looks like grandstanding, smells like grandstanding, and walks like grandstanding...... -

Yes, Greece is a country with a great history of accomplishments. Sadly, it is no longer "independent". It is subject to the rule of the EU in it's finances, which is, of course, a huge measure of independence.
Before the EU, they were free to spend themselves into oblivion and simply devalue their currency. While this is not a pleasant thing, they were free to make those decisions. No more. -

I saw a report a while ago that stated that every poll done in every country in Europe shows the people do not want or like the Euro or the Euro union and want their sovereignty back. I give it 10 years until the EU bureacracy is ripped apart by the citizens of the various countries in Europe.

Newbie K: some advice I received about 100 years ago when I moved here:
1. Massachusetts traffic laws are like industry standards: they are strictly advisory in nature.
2. Never, ever make eye contact when trying to enter traffic. Doing this only signals other drivers that you see them, so they will speed up to beat you.
3. Oldest car always wins
4. When entering/exiting a rotary, see #3 above.
5. The use of turn signals is giving information to the enemy.
6. It's your road. Pedestrians, bicyclists, and other cars (especially those with out of state plates...new York in particular) are trespassing on YOUR turf and deserve what they get.
Keep these simple guidelines in mind and your driving experience in the Commonwealth will make more sense.
