Westford Academy fell behind early but overcame North Andover and pulled away with the North Division 1 championship win.
In the postgame scrum of cheering parents and players, a Westford Academy fan said to the team "Thank you for a great season." The response came quickly from a Grey Ghost player. "It's not over yet," she said with a smile. Westford Academy won the North Division 1 championship on Thursday afternoon with a 13-7 win over North Andover and advanced to take on Notre Dame Academy in a Tuesday state playoff game. It wasn't the usual game day for the Grey Ghosts. The school went into lockdown for several hours in search of a missing student. As a result, students were sent home early and graduation rehearsal was postponed. Sensing that her team may be feeling stressed, head coach Julie Olivier called them over to her house at 1:30 p.m., just …

It took the equivalent of two complete high school regular season baseball games, but Westford Academy's baseball team punched their ticket to Lelacheur Park this weekend with a 14-inning 2-1 win over their rivals.
Anytime Westford Academy faces off against the Colonials of Acton-Boxborough, regardless of the time or the contest, it’s something special for both sides. But Tuesday’s MIAA Division 1 North sectional baseball quarterfinal will go down as a significant moment, even for this storied rivalry. After 14 innings, the equivalent of two regular season games at the high school level, Westford finally emerged victorious against their visiting rivals, 2-1. The scoreboard remained empty until the 13th inning when Colonials senior Joe Euele crossed the plate, although the Ghosts came back to tie it with a run from Dan Cerullo off a triple from Mike Malynn. Although Westford would leave the bases loaded, a sacrifice bunt down the third base line by …
