Blue Ice 30 Minty Fresh 19 This was a great game that was highlighted by a second half surge by the Blue Ice. Sarah Anderson led the scoring for both teams. Good defense was played by Jackie Andry and Caroline Campbell for the Blue Ice. Leah Gibson and Jordan Underwood were standouts for the Mint. Longhorns 25 Flaming Maroon 15 The Flaming Maroon hung tough until the Longhorns pulled away late in the contest. Wizards 26 Pythons 21 John Berrigan poured in 12 of his game high 16 points in the second half to help the Wizards overcome a one point half time deficit in knocking off the Pythons. Jason Ward paced the Pythons with 10 points. Team Phantom 38 Thunderbolts 26 Scott Beattie scored 8 points in each half to lead Team Phantom past the Thunderbolts. Simon Wang dropped in 10 points for the Thunderbolts. Gold Rush 18 Blue Tornadoes 14 Charles Zhang and Nick Faretra each scored 4 second half points to help the Gold Rush to a comeback win over the Blue Tornadoes. Yellow Submarine 31 Cool Blue 30 It was a very close first game back from winter break, but the Yellow Submarines pulled out the win against the Cool Blue. Leah Bushey, Amy Cornelius and Jillian Chrysikos led the offense with Taryn Chrysikos and Brianna Mills carrying the defense. The Cool Blue’s offense was carried by Brooke Mains and Katie Fitzsimmons while Kristina Reny led the defense. It was a great way to restart the season. WYBA High School Girls Basketball Results for Games Played 12/19/11 – 12/21/11 Yellow Submarine 32 Periwinkle Platypi 31 The Yellow Submarines managed to overcome a poor shooting night to beat the Periwinkle Platypi 32-31 on a last second steal and layup. The oddly named Platypi played tough defense all game even though they were limited to 6 players. The Subs were led in scoring by the sisters Bushey (Lauren and Leah) and twin terrors Chrysikos (Taryn and Jillian). Rachel Templeton added two points.
