Westford Academy fell behind early but overcame North Andover and pulled away with the North Division 1 championship win.
In the postgame scrum of cheering parents and players, a Westford Academy fan said to the team "Thank you for a great season." The response came quickly from a Grey Ghost player. Westford Academy had a lead with two outs in the seventh inning, but the Lions rallied to tie the game and eventually won, 3-2, in extra innings.
The Westford Academy baseball team entered the final frame with the lead, and recorded the first two outs within the blink of an eye. But just as quickly, the Grey Ghost lead escaped as Chelmsford mounted a comeback and eventually earned an extra inning victory. After putting down the first two batters of the visiting seventh inning, Westford Academy's outfield couldn't handle a long fly ball, putting Chelmsford's Jack Campsmith on third base with two outs. The next batter, Michael DeDonato, knotted the game at 2-2 with a hard single just inside the third base bag. After a scoreless eighth inning, Chelmsford struck again in the ninth inning and held on for a 3-2 victory.
