Home sales across the Commonwealth were the highest in six years according to the Warren Group.
According to information released by the Warren Group last month, home sales rose 18 percent across Massachusetts in 2012, with Westford home sales outpacing that growth. For the year, the Warren Group's report indicated 46,887 homes were sold statewide, up from 39,594 in 2011. In Westford, 2012 saw 212 sales, up from 171 the year before, with the median home sale dipping slightly from $435,000 to $433,250. "I would characterize 2012 as the year of robust recovery in the real estate market," said Timothy M. Warren Jr., CEO of The Warren Group. While monthly sales were slightly slower this month in town, Westford and Massachusetts as a whole saw a big year-over-year overall increase in home sales in November, which marked the largest year-over-year increase in 2012, according to the latest figures from The Warren Group. In Westford, 16 single-family homes were sold in November 2012, an 11 percent drop from November 2011. However, statewide home sales in November were up 38 percent from a year ago and The Warren Group that it was the best November for sales since 2005. Year-to-date, 195 single-family homes have sold in Westford, a 28 percent increase over the 152 sold during the same time period in 2011. Statewide sales are up 22 percent compared to 2011.
