Another Westford Mom Throws Her Hat Into The World of Small Business

It might not be cupcake related, but just like the trend earlier this year, Laura Floyd hopes to strike out on her own and help local moms with their party planning.

2012 has been a year of entrepreneurship in Westford, and now another Westford mom is looking to start her own business focused on planning parties for children. Laura Floyd Events, which opened this month, is the brain child of Westford mom Laura Floyd. After leaving the Wellington Management Group in 2004 to start a family, Floyd began to throw parties for her three girls and their friends. Westford Foreclosure Petition Stats Don't Mirror October Statewide Jump

The Warren Group announced a jump in foreclosure petitions, which they describe as healthy for the Real Estate market. However, that jump was not seen in Westford.

According to recently released data from the Warren Group, it appears that Massachusetts may be sliding from its recent trend of fewer foreclosures, but Westford's foreclosure rate is continuing to drop. The report announced that foreclosure petitions increased 5.9 percent comparing the months of October 2011 and 2010, the first time foreclosure petitions increased in the Commonwealth since August 2010. So far in 2011, petitions are down nearly 52 percent, but the recent rise may actually be an indicator of a positive economic trend according to Warren Group CEO Timothy Warren Jr. "A rise in foreclosures is troubling for distressed homeowners, but in this case it's a positive signal that the backlog of foreclosures on bank's books is …
