Could National Grid do in Westford what NSTAR did in Wayland?

  Recently in Wayland, NSTAR has been engaging in controversial and aggressive vegetation clearing policies related to last October's storm that has local residents outraged. Today we ask Westford Patch readers if they think National Grid could ever do the same thing in Westford that NSTAR did in Wayland. Here is a statement we received from National Grid spokesperson David Graves. "National Grid takes very seriously its responsibility to provide for the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to our customers. To help accomplish that we periodically trim vegetation along our distribution and transmission lines to prevent damage to our equipment and interruption of service caused by falling trees and limbs. Janet, I understand your concern, but it's really not their job to artfully craft your trees into lovely expressions of the arborist's art. it's their job to reduce the chances of falling limbs that will make you and thousands of others seethe in the cold come February's storms.
