Are You Ready For The Upcoming Minot's Corner Construction?

We've seen the beginning of it, what's your thoughts on what's next?

The other day a reader commetned to Patch via e-mail about those barrels (pictured) on Route 110 Eastbound just before Bank of America, and don't worry, they're going away. We gave you advance warning about the traffic there over the next two years, and we'll continue to attempt to obtain updates from Mass DOT and the Westford Highway Department this over the next few months so you can avoid the worst of the traffic. However, we want to get your take. What do you expect from Minot's Corner over the next two years of construction? What have you seen so far? Should road widening have come even earlier? Are you seeking alternate routes to avoid Minot's Corner yet? If so, just during rush hour or at other times of the day? Let us know your …

I find the traffic worse during lunch and rush hours. I avoid the area completely now. Westford used to be small town style with apple orchards, trees, and fields. I feel the town is losing its character and I avoid the area not just because of traffic but because I feel like the city found us and took us over. I take back roads to hold on to my denial.   more ›

TELL US: Should Cornerstone Have Gotten The Parent's Liquor License?

It became official on Tuesday night, but now we want your take.

In a 3-1 vote, with Bob Jefferies opposing and Jim Sullivan absent, the proposal to transfer the liquor license of Parent's Market to the a new package store now slated to open at Cornerstone Square was approved by the Board of Selectmen on Tuesday night. The move fulfills the goal of Article 19 at Fall Town Meeting, which sought to petition the legislature for an additional liquor license specifically for Cornerstone Square. Opponents have said during the debate that four package stores almost directly on Minot's Corner will harm all of the stores and cause safety issues, among other concerns. Supporters meanwhile have believed that increased traffic at the corner will separate each plaza, making all of the stores viable, and that …

You Asked, Patch Answers

Who Was the "Minot" in Minot's Corner?

Welcome to our latest "You Asked, Patch Answers

Today’s “You Asked, Patch Answers” address a question surrounding the busiest intersection in town, Minot’s Corner. However, the question isn’t about traffic at the corner of Littleton, Boston and Carlisle Roads, but who exactly Minot was. If one looks closely while making a right hand turn off Exit 32, they can see the answer, but we can help out those who don’t feel like risking their life at that tricky intersection to search for the small plaque in front of the Mobil on the Run. Minot refers to the Minot family, especially Capt. Jonathan Minot. Jonathan wasn’t the first to live in the house where the Mobil on the Run now stands, as the family emigrated from England in the early to mid 1700s, and the family continued to live there until…

Thanks Rachel for replying. Yes the 110 business, high tech , Nashoba Vocational HS certainly could use a sidewalk, Tadmuck Rd and Main St.narrow hill past Tedeschis all need better pedestrian access. Town politicians seem to be in denial about reality because they dont have the initiative to face the safety problem.   more ›

Report Outlines Future of Minot's Corner

During Monday night's Planning Board meeting, an overview was given of certain aspects of Minot's Corner ranging from traffic projections to improvement plans.

Following the continuing Cornerstone sign discussion, the Westford Planning Board took a look at another issue impacting Minot's Corner: Minot's Corner itself. The intersection, which brings together Boston, Carlisle and Littleton Road, will be undergoing improvements beginning next year that will continue until 2014 according to a presentation given during the meeting. Westford Patch will provide more information on improvements to the crucial intersection over the upcoming months, and readers can get up to the minute traffic information there and at other parts of town by going to westford.patch.com/traffic. The presentation can be seen in its entirety on the Westford CAT website.

that is the frustrating part of all this, I turn left at the light coming off 495 North, that gets blocked everyday at 5 pm...(and it is not farmers market traffic) so why you wouldn't address the intersection before building a huge complex is absolutely mindless and honestly if something would happen to me going forward wonder what my legal recourse would be.   more ›
