Why Is There No School Zone Sign on Concord Road?
The Robinson School and the Crisafulli School share a 20 MPH school zone. We found out why.
For anyone driving down Robinson Road, particularly parents, a question might come to mind. "Why is there a 'school zone' sign on both sides of the Crisafulli School, but not the Robinson School?" We had one parent ask that exact question, and here's the answer we found. According the Westford Public Schools superintendent Bill Olson, the key reason is the drop in students walking home from school, particularly since Crisafulli was founded about a decade ago. In an interview with Westford Patch, Olson said that now students only walk home from school when they live directly across the street. Very confusing about the source of funds for the speed limit signs. I was under the impression that the state DOT controlled where signs were located and the Board of Selectmen directed the Highway Supt. to locate the sign.
