The suspect was arrested after months of robberies.
After allegedly robbing more than a dozen banks in the Merrimack Valley, southern New Hampshire and Maine, including the Bank of America in Westford last week, a suspect in the "Merrimack Valley Bandit" case has been apprehended in Salem, N.H. Salem Police Lt. Steve Malisos said that Rafael Beamud Jr. of Lowell was puled over on a traffic stop near Home Depot and then identified as the man federal authorities have been looking for. "One of our detectives was the one who was able to ID him through photos, and we contacted Massachusetts authorities," Malisos said. Bank of America plaza on Littleton Road is a crime scene as of 2 p.m. after an alleged bank robbery at approximately 1:30 p.m. It remains unclear as of yet if this incident is connected to nearby recent bank robberies. We will share more details as they become available. The suspect was described as a white male wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt. UPDATE: The suspect is believed to have fled the scene on foot. Officials say that service will be restored within a few hours.
The Westford Water Department reports that due to a water main break in the area, several homes on Drawbridge Road are currently without water. They go on to say in a released statement that service should be restored in a few hours and that customers may see some discoloration to their water shortly after restoration occurs, which can be solved by flushing the tap quickly for a few minutes. UPDATE: State Police are saying two lanes are open as of 10:53 p.m.
Patch is being told that a tractor trailer truck and a van have rolled over on 495 southbound near the Tadmuck Road bridge at approximately 9:05 p.m. on Monday night. Serious injuries are being reported. We are heading to the scene now to assess the damage, we will provide more information as it becomes available. UPDATE - 10:33 p.m. - 495 South was backed up to approximately Hunt Road in Chelmsford from the crash site near the Tadmuck Road bridge as of 9:55 p.m. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. Local police and fire officials are on the scene, we will have more information as it becomes available.
