Bank Heist: Westford Reacts
Residents express sadness about this rare crime for the town and blame desperation.
As Westford police continue the search for the suspect in Wednesday's robbery at Eastern Bank on Littleton Road, community members reacted to the first bank robbery the town has seen in several years. Paul Doty, owner of Paul's Diner around the corner from the bank, was near the bank at the time of the crime but said he didn't see anything out of the ordinary. "I was going to McKay's Hardware and passed the bank," Doty said. "I was in the store for two minutes and when I came back out the police were everywhere." As a local business owner, Doty said that the possibility of a robbery is always in the back of his mind. He said he feels for the bank's employees. "I'm just glad no one was hurt," Doty said.
