People from around the country take part in a candle-light vigil at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial to honor the fallen including officers from Massachusetts.
More than 19,000 names of fallen law enforcement officers are etched into the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC -- and more are added every year. The keepers of the police memorial figure one law officer in the United States dies in the line of duty every 57 hours. For this year's ceremony, 321 names were added to that wall. Among them: Middlesex County Correction Officer James Callahan, Sr., who died in 1973 due to a heart attack after being assaulted by an inmate and Woburn Police Officer John P. Gibbons III, who was killed in the line of duty on May 4, 1999. Gibbons suffered a fatal heart attack after being kicked in the chest by a woman while responding to a disturbance call. Tuesday, April 30, 12:30 p.m. - An electrical wire was knocked down by a passing truck on Dunstable Road near the Tyngsboro border, causing a brush fire. National Grid shut off the electrical wire and then the fire was extinguished, after it consumed an area approximately 20' by 20' Tuesday, April 30, 2:58 p.m. - One home owner was attempting to extinguish a structure fire on South Chelmsford Road with a garden hose when fire trucks arrived. The fire originated from some bark mulch and spread to the home owner's porch, causing damage to the side of the home and the porch. Massachusetts State Police officials indicated the incident caused no traffic delays and is still under investigation.
A Massachusetts State Police cruiser was involved in a minor crash near Exit 32 on 495 Northbound at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The incident is still under investigation by State Police from Troop A in Danvers, there were no injuries reported and no traffic delays near Exit 32. Injuries were reported at a crash at almost the exact same location around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, with traffic limited to one lane for a period.

Westford Fire Department log highlights for the week of April 22 to 29, 2013
April 27, 12:24 p.m. -Firefighters aided a homeowner on Hildreth Street with a fire in their lawn which they had obtained a permit for. April 27, 2:10 p.m. -Approximately 1,000 gallons of water were used to extinguish a fire between the Boston Road exit and the Concord Road overpass on 495 Southbound. Fire Department officials indicate that a mixture of grass and brush caught on fire and the area of the blaze was approximately 125 by 40 feet. April 28, 1:23 a.m. - Firefighters extinguished a large bonfire at Nashoba Valley Ski Area. April 28, 2:52 p.m. - Fire Department officials believe that a spark from a chainsaw may have ignited a fire on Chicory Road. The fire caused slight damage to a pool cover and shed.

Suspected Boston Marathon bomber's death caused by gunshot wounds, being run over by car.
The death of accused Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev has been ruled a homicide, according to a WCVB-TV report. According to the report, Tsarnaev's death was caused by gunshot wounds from police bullets and being run over by a car. Tsarnaev, 26, was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Deaconness Medical Center in Boston at 1:35 a.m. on Friday, April 19. Specifically, Tsarnaev sustained gunshot wounds to his torso and "extreme" blunt trauma to his head and torso, according to WCVB. Police have said Tsarnaev was run over by his brother, Dzhokar, during a shootout with police in Watertown. The Middlesex County District Attorney's office has indicated that no negligence has been found from either driver in a deadly crash in front of Nabnasset Lake Country Club.
A crash involving a truck and a Westford Police cruiser in front of Nabnasset Lake Country Club that led to the death of an 87-year-old man last summer was not caused by negligence according to an investigation just closed by the Middlesex County District Attorney's office. "The investigation revealed that the pickup truck pulled out of the intersection of Nabasset Street and Oak Hill Road and hit a police cruiser that was responding to a call," said Stephanie Guyotte, a spokeswoman for District Attorney Marian T. Ryan. "The office has determined that there is no evidence to support negligence on the part of drivers involved."

Officials stress there is no threat to the public, details still emerging.
Boston Police announced a major new development in the Boston Marathon bombing case Wednesday morning. According to the department, there are three new suspects in custody. Boston Police tweeted the news just after 11 a.m. Wednesday. There were no further details, though the police said they would offer more information soon. There is no additional information being released at the moment. BPD said additional details will be provided when they become available. Police stressed there was no immediate threat to the public. Westford residents should seek alternate routes for the next few days.
If you're seeing delays on Littleton Road today, it's probably not Minot's Corner again. Westford Police are advising residents to watch out for delays on Route 110 from South Chelmsford Road to Nashoba Valley Technical High School due to parking lot construction work at the high school. This weekend is also the weekend of the Westford 5K and 10K Road Race, which begins next to the Abbot School and heads around the center until finishing in front of the J.V. Fletcher Library. Police are reminding residents to be alert for detours on Main St., Depot St., Hildreth St. Lincoln St., Forge Village Rd., Graniteville Rd., and Concord Rd., as well as some secondary roads nearby between 1:45 and 3:14 p.m. on Sunday.
William O'Neill is charged with threatening the woman who pressed charges against his daughter for theft.
A Westford woman and her father were arrested recently, both facing felony charges. Nashua Police say the daughter was arrested and charged April 10 with a theft, and the father was arrested six days later, for threatening his daughter's alleged victim, demanding she drop the charges. According to police, in January of 2012 a theft was reported from a Nashua residence in excess $1,500. Meghan O’Neill, 30, of 11 Chestnut Road, Westford, Mass., who was known to the victim, was identified as the suspect. An arrest warrant was issued for Meghan O’Neill, who was taken into custody April 10.
