Evelyn (Lawrie) (Greatorex) Dunn, 77, of Westford, passed away on June 29, 2012. Evelyn was born in New Jersey. She worked as a teacher at Nashoba Valley Technical High School throughout her career. In her free time she enjoyed being with her family, her dogs and sailing. She is predeceased by her late husband, Gordon Dunn. She leaves her 2 sons, Dr. David Greatorex and his wife Dr. Patricia Greatorex of Scarborough, ME and Jeffery Paul Greatorex and his wife Lisa of Edmonds, WA, a daughter, Donna Cote and her husband Mark of Lowell, a step-son, Scott Dunn and his wife Lorraine of Pepperell and a step-daughter, Jackie Marino and her husband Jimmy of Methuen, grandchildren, Alexandria Cote, Sean and Erin Greatorex, Finn and Aria …

Margaret (Dean) Egan, 53, of Littleton, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2012, at her home, after battling a brief illness. She was born in Lowell to the late Edward and Louise (Sargent) Dean. Margaret lived in Groton for many years before recently moving to Littleton with her husband, Paul. She was a member of the Maynard Elks and was a fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. Other interests of hers were biking, hiking, camping, and anything to do with nature, but most of all, spending time with her family. UMass Lowell plastics engineering professor Rudolph Deanin was a long time resident of Westford.
Westford resident and well known UMass Lowell plastics engineering professor Rudolph Deanin died last week at the age of 90. Deanin, who taught at the school from 1967 until his retirement in 2008, became a favorite of students in Lowell and saw his career extend due in large part to his love of being around inquisitive young minds. “People ask me why I don’t retire, and I tell them, I feel the age of the people I’m with,” he once said. “When I’m with retired people, I have nothing but aches and pains. When I’m with kids in their 20s, I feel as if I’m in my 20s. So even though they’re aggravating, it’s worth it.” The former professor received an undergraduate degree from Cornell and PhD at the University of Illinois, where he was involved …

The 77-year-old flew more than 100 combat missions in the Vietnam War and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, among other commendations. He served as a Westford Selectman.
Westford lost a decorated war hero and extraordinarily involved public servant earlier this month. Jerry Berkowitz died Feb. 3 at the age of 77. Small in stature, he left a towering legacy. He flew more than 100 combat missions in Vietnam, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bronze Star for his heroics. He settled in Westford, where he served on the Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee, among other organizations. He was married to his wife, Virginia, for over fifty years. Westford Town Moderator Ellen Harde said Berkowitz was an energetic, optimistic town official who worked hard to simplify the workings of town government for the public to understand. "He helped (people) understand in layman's terms how the town's finances work…
