A Chinese newspaper has identified the third Boston Marathon bombing victim as Lu Lingzu, a Boston University graduate student, according to the Associated Press. Lu, from Shenyang, China, was studying statistics in Boston. A second Chinese national and BU student, Zhou Danling, was also injured in the blasts. She is listed in stable condition in a Boston hospital, according to Chinese officials. Lu's death has led to an outpouring from friends, family and concerned neighbors in China. GOP Senate Candidates Discuss Economy, Social Security, Immigration at Stonehill College Debate

State Rep Daniel Winslow, former US attorney Michael J. Sullivan, and former Navy SEAL Gabriel E. Gomez discussed a wide-range of issues in the hour-long debate

The quest to become the "Washington outsider" representing the Republican Party in this year's Massachusetts special senate election was underway at Stonehill College Tuesday night when GOP candidates met in their first primary debate. "Electing either of the Democratic nominees would be a sign of 'surrender' that we have given up," State Representative Daniel B. Winslow (R-Norfolk) said in his closing statement referring U.S. Congressmen Ed Markey (D-Malden) and Stephen Lynch (D-South Boston). Winslow, former US attorney Michael J. Sullivan, and former Navy SEAL Gabriel E. Gomez discussed a wide-range of issues in the hour-long debate, including Roe vs. Wade, gun control, immigration, social security, and the economy. The issue of sign bylaws continued at last week's Planning Board meeting.

Rex Trailer Dies at 84; Share Your Memories, Photos

Boston TV icon hosted a children's show in the 1950s-1970s. Do you have any photos from back in the day?

Rex Trailer, a Boston TV icon who had been recovering from pneumonia recently, has died. Trailer hosted “Boomtown,” a children’s show with a Western theme on WBZ-TV from 1956-1974.  Trailer was given a choice between Cleveland and Boston, but he's remembered for more than his cowboy get-up. The Boston Globe wrote in an editorial last year: Kids adored Trailer’s rodeo tricks. But mostly they adored him for his consistent kindness and competence. Trailer was 84. A funeral is being planned, but no date has been set yet, according to his website.  Meantime, what are your memories of Rex Trailer? Did you ever meet him or have your picture taken with him? If you've got a photo, click the "Upload Photos and Videos" button at the top of this …

I wish I had a photo. When I was a Brownie Girl Scout, we visited the set of BoomTown during production. I remember being in my brown uniform and white gloves sitting in the audience. They had all the kids walk by the camera and wave at a red balloon and smile so that we could all be on camera. Great show. RIP Rex Trailer.   more ›

Share Your Memories of Cheerio

Yesterday, we here at Westford Patch took some time to remember one of Westford's most notable individuals. Today, we'd like to hear your memories.

It's still hard to fathom, but tonight's Westford Academy football game won't have Cheerio there. Westford Patch editor Andrew Sylvia shared some of his Cheerio memories yesterday, and today we want to ask you to share some of your memories of Victor "Cheerio" Neal. Were you a student at Westford Academy and saw him driving the bus or on the sidelines at a sporting event? Were you a friend of the family? Did you know him earlier in life? Share your memories of Cheerio in the comments section.

Cheerio was more than just a bus driver or photographer to many of us at WA; he was a friend. Whether we won or lost, he would have those special mint cookies of his for the long bus rides home. He would toss a life saver to me when I was doing homework in the stands, then ask me about what was new, and if I was enjoying school & my classes. Cheerio knew just how to bring a smile to everyone's …   more ›

Five Things I Remember About Cheerio Neal

Today Westford Patch remembers a good friend and long time contributor who passed away on this week.

Hello, Today I want to help remember the life of a man who was beloved by countless people in the town of Westford and was a frequent contributor and good friend to Westford Patch: Victor "Cheerio" Neal. In the spirit of our daily Five Things column, here are five memories that stick out for me from the time I, Westford Patch editor Andrew Sylvia, remember about Cheerio. #1. I met Cheerio in Lexington at a Grey Ghosts playoff softball game. He had a Canon EOS 50D with a 300mm lens and he told me that he had gotten it from a $1,400 insurance payment he receieved back during the ice storm. Of course, the insurance policy wasn't on another camera, Cheerio just felt like getting a camera with the money he got back from his policy.  Westford …

It's very sad to hear the news of Vic's passing. I first met him as a bus driver during my childhood 20 years ago. Over the years, I had the pleasure of running into him at many community events and WA games. He was always there to capture and share so many great moments for the people of Westford. His warm spirit and presence will be greatly missed in our town.   more ›
