Youth Lacrosse Game Recaps

U-11 Boys   White Team 6 vs. Reading 5 Westford's White team won a close fought battle against Reading this past Sunday. Reading started off quickly by scoring less than a minute into the game, but Westford quickly answered back, when Aidan Timlin received a pass from Daniel Marshall and powered it pass the goalie. Attacker's Michael Paulauskas and Willem Lorrette kept Reading's defense busy while Kevin Egan fed a nice pass to Danny McInerny, who circled the opposing net and fought his way out front for powerful and accurate score. The third goal was scored by Robbie Raboin and was set up by the great passing of Griffin Schwab and Tommy Welham down the left side of the field. The President featuring L.E.S White was the top vote-getter in the final round of the Battle of The Bands beating The Truezoos, Forget the Former, Scotty and the Gang, BlackLight SunRise and DCLA (Dukes County Love Affair). Mosquito Control Coming to Town

The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Project has issued a release regarding upcoming visits in Westford.

Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project personnel are tentatively coming to Westford on May 22, 24, 30 and June 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, and 28. Complaints about mosquitoes can be registered by calling 508-393-3055 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. If warranted, spraying will occur at defined, site-specific areas in town, although state regulations prohibit pesticide sprayings on private property with consent of the owner. More information is at the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project website.

13 Westford girls vied for the coveted title, which has been handed down over generations.

Per Westford tradition, once again local girls vied for the honor of being named the Apple Blossom Queen as one of the highlights of the annual Apple Blossom Festival. Congratulations to all the candidates, as well as 2012 Apple Blossom Queen Rachel O'Donnell and runners up Kathleen McEnaney, Lia Sciabica, and Richa Kaul.

Year after year these girls look like Barbie Dolls always tan and skinny, often blonde. seems very sexist that anyone 'larger' or less triditionally 'good looking' doesnt make the cut. With Playoff Berth Secure, Softball Seniors Celebrate

The MIAA playoffs are beginning soon, and Westford Academy will be there in softball.

  The girls of Westford's summer, or spring to be accurate, couldn't pull off a win against Boston Latin on senior night, but it was academic as they had been able to clinch a playoff berth against Newton South on Wednesday. Shannon Donahue had a hit in both games, including the 11-4 loss to Latin, while Rachel Desrochers had a pair of hits in the 6-4 win against Newton. Westford now stands at 10-9 and will learn their playoff opponent next week.

The following are excerpts from the Westford Fire Department log for the week of May 6 to 13. Wednesday, May 9 11:48 a.m. – A peculiar odor sent five fire department units to the scene of the Ninety Nine Restaurant, where the building was investigated. 11:18 p.m. – Two ambulances were dispatched to the Route 4 off-ramp in Chelmsford for injuries related to a motor vehicle crash. Injured parties were taken to Lowell General Hospital Thursday, May 10 1:01 p.m. – A minor fuel leak was reported near the Chelmsford border along Littleton Road. No further information was given.
