Weekend Agenda: A Family Picnic and a Garage Sale

Family Picnic: The Fat Moon Farm is hosting a family-fun picnic on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 3 p.m. This afternoon/evening will include a delicious picnic catered by Two Chefs are Better than One, music by Mister Vic, farm tours and games for all ages. Fat Moon Farm is located at 5 Gould Rd.

Garage Sale: the popular HGTV series 'Flee Market Flip' has inspired many "novice flippers" to transform yard sale finds into unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Visit this Westford yard sale at 6 Tyler Rd. (across from the Butterfly Place), on Saturday, August 24, after 9 a.m. 

There will be plenty to choose from, including furniture: office and house, home wedding leftovers: tablecloths for wedding (10- 96'' white round), cases of wine and champagne glasses, frames, DVDs, color photo enlarger and other good stuff. Also Green Egg with table, off-set yard umbrellas, metal patio table w/ chairs (4). Cash only. Rain date Sunday, August 25.

Kimball Farm: If you haven't made the family trip to Kimball Farm this summer, make time this weekend. The weather is forecast is for beautiful clear skies with perfect mid 70s temperatures, the perfect backdrop for a entertaining day that includes fun, food and entertainment for the entire family. Kimball Farm is located at 400 Littleton Rd. (Rte. 110). The Westford location was voted "Best Ice Cream Stand in Massachusetts" by USA TODAY in 2010. Taste for yourself!

The Butterfly Place: This local gem offers picturesque displays of New England butterflies and tropical species from all over the world. As you walk along a winding pathway, observe butterflies sipping from flowers, basking in the sunshine and flying freely in a natural habitat. Enjoy the koi fish and quail birds which live among the butterflies. Visit the “show and tell bench” where a staff member is always available to answer your questions and help make your visit fun. See eggs, caterpillars or other interesting creatures up close. The Butterfly Place is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Prices are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $8 children 3-12 years old and free 2 and under.
