9/11 Monument Dedication
The town of Westford has found a special way to commemorate the memory of the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001. On Wednesday, Sept. 11, 7 p.m., at the Public Safety Courtyard, 53 Main St., there will be a formal dedication for a section of beam the town received from one of the twin towers. Inspired by firefighter Dave Christiana, this tribute was created to honor two Westford residents, 92 Massachusetts residents and first responders, police, firefighters and EMS who gave their lives to help save others. The event is open to the public.
Town committees and boards are busy at work this week. The current meetings scheduled are: Parks & Recreation Commission, School Committee, Sign Bylaw Review Committee, Norman E. Day School Advisory Council, BoS/Planning Board Executive Session, Board of Selectmen, Nashoba Tech School Committee, Affordable Housing Committee, Council on Aging, Conservation Commission and the Capital Planning Committee. Nashoba Tech Golf Team Hosting Bowling Benefit
Form a team this week to lace up their bowling shoes for a fundraiser for the Nashoba Valley Technical High School golf team. The event will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, 6-8 p.m., Harvard Lanes, Rte. 110, Harvard. The fee is $20 per bowler or $80 for a team of four. Donations of prizes and sponsorship of lanes for $25 is also welcome. Bring your own food and refreshments and make it a great evening out while raising money for a good, local cause. Register your child this week for story time or a book club at the J.V. Fletcher Library. Register in person in the Youth Services Department on Monday, Sept. 9, 6:30 p.m., or by phone beginning Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 978-399-2302. Book clubs are for children in grades K-5.
