Pink For A Cause

Westford resident Marci Barnes and her fellow "Pink Ladies" seek to help a friend by their participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk.

Back in March, Marci Barnes sought to combine her love of the color pink with working for a good cause. She unexpectedly found that goal through participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk but circumstances gave her effort an entire new purpose.

Shortly after committing to the walk, set to occur on September 18, Barnes received the news one of her best friends was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer and was receiving weekly treatments at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Since then, three other Westford women, Killian McNulty, Noelle Davighi, and Jill Attardo have signed up to join her on the walk. Barnes would like to have as many women possible to join the team, and the “Pink Ladies” as they have called themselves, have raised about $1,625, just over half of their combined goal of $2,500, with each participant is raising a minimum of $250.
