Westford Under Excessive Heat Warning on Friday

According to meteorologists, temperatures could reach triple digits today.

After a week of blazing temperatures, it's hard to believe. But things are heating up in Westford on Friday.

According to a report by WCVB.com, temperatures could soar past 100 degrees in parts of Massachusetts. Because of these conditions, the National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for a host of towns that includes Westford.

Earlier this week, Town Manager Jodi Ross told Patch that it's important to stay inside air conditioning whenever possible in order to beat the heat. Ross added that anyone in need of a place to cool down can contact Town Hall, and they'll be happy to help however possible.

Donoghue also suggested taking advantage of places to swim in town, along with places like J.V. Fletcher Library and the Cameron Senior Center.

If you want to work out despite the blazing temperatures, Boston Sports Club offers a solution for you.

According to the Boston Globe, the chain of gyms will offer free workouts to residents at their locations during heat wave conditions through August 31. Though there isn't a location in Westford, there are several in the surrounding area. Visit the company's website by clicking here.

‘‘When the temperature reaches over 90 degrees, it is not safe for people to work up a sweat outside,’’ Chris Ruta, a company vice president, said in a statement, according to the Boston Globe. ‘‘We are opening our doors to allow people to enjoy the A/C and stay safe while working out in the summer heat.’’
