Things 'So Far, So Good' in Westford Despite Heat Wave

With temperatures soaring for an extended period of time, Town Manager Jodi Ross offered tips for beating the heat.

Westford residents looking to beat the heat that is scorching the area don’t have to travel very far.

With temperatures expected to remain in the 90s for the foreseeable future, the Westford area is officially in the midst of a heat wave. Conditions are expected to remain about 90 degrees at least through the weekend.

Town Manager Jodi Ross said residents are encouraged to remain in air conditioning whenever possible as temperatures soar. She added that there are a variety of options right in town where residents can cool down.

Among those choices are Westford’s town beaches, J.V. Fletcher Library, and the Cameron Senior Center.

Like residents are encouraged to do during the cold and snowy winter months, they are asked to check on friends and neighbors during these summer months as well. Ross said it’s particularly important to check in with senior citizens to make sure they are beating the heat.

Westford's Town Manager also added that she has not heard of any heat-related incidents in town in recent days.

“If anyone is in need of a place to cool down, they can give us a call and we will do whatever we can to help them try to keep cool,” said Ross. “We’re trying to do our best to keep an eye on everyone. So far, so good.”
