Westford Academy Wins Acton Toyota Grey Ghost Classic

The Ghosts defeated defending state champion Andover to exact revenge to their loss at the hands of the Golden Warriors in last year's tournament, and they followed that win with another to obtain this year's title.

The Westford Academy girls' basketball team defeated the defending state champion and reigning Grey Ghost Classic champion Golden Warriors of Andover over the weekend, and the Ghosts followed that up with a championship of their own on Tuesday.

Westford defeated Wachusett 60-50 in the championship game of this year's Acton Toyota Grey Ghost Classic, adding that title to their regular season DCL championship honors.

"This was a great win for us, because Wachusett beat us on a last second shot earlier in the season, so it was nice to get a little revenge," said head coach Russ Coward. "They are an excellent team, and we really struggled to move the ball on offense, but our defense played well and Cathryn Sennott took over the game for us."

The Ghosts finish their regular season on Thursday night at 5:30 against Bishop Feehan. They will be the #3 seed in the Division 1 North Sectional tournament if they win and the #4 seed if they lose.
