Playoffs Just Around the Corner for Grey Ghost Teams

Two weeks remain in the regular season with several teams hoping to improve their playoff positioning.

It's been a strong regular season for Westford Academy teams, and with just two weeks to go the Grey Ghosts are hoping to continue that trend as the playoffs approach.

Both basketball teams hit the hardwood on Monday in games that were originally scheduled for Friday before the weekend's blizzard had other ideas.

The girls team travels to Lincoln-Sudbury at 6:30 p.m. while the boys team takes on the same foe at 7:30 p.m. in a home tilt. Also in action at 5 p.m. is the gymnastics team, taking part in the Dual County League championship.

Just one team is in action on Wednesday. The boys hockey team hosts Andover on the ice at 7:45 p.m.

Thursday may be Valentine's Day, but for a trio of teams it is also game day.

At 7 p.m., the girls hockey and girls basketball team are both in action at home. The basketball team welcomes Newton South to its home gym while the hockey team faces off against Acton-Boxborough. The boys basketball team, meanwhile, tips off against Newtown South at 7 p.m. on the road.

No teams are in action on Friday, but several Grey Ghost athletes will be back to work on Saturday.

The wrestling team will participate in the state championship meet at 9:30 a.m. in Lawrence while the girls hockey team travels to Chelmsford for a 4:30 p.m. game. Also on the day, the girls swim team is scheduled for the Division 1 state championship meet at Springfield College.

The week wraps up with the girls basketball team hosting the Acton Toyota Grey Ghost Classic, which gets underway at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The boys swim team also is scheduled to compete in the state championship meet.
