Boys and Girls Basketball Defeat Acton-Boxborough

Photos from Donna Hackley, notes on the girls' game from the girls' team.

Coaches' Notes

It was a very close game throughout, but Katie Ernst hit two big free throws near the end of the fourth quarter to clinch the game for Westford.

Catherine Sennott lead the team with 14 points, while Hannah Hackley chipped in with 13 and Christina Nowak added 10.

We made our run in the second quarter, pushing the lead up to 8.  The rest of the game was even, as we were able to stop AB from making any big runs.  It was very good win to cap off a very tough week.

I would like to see Coach Coward use that bench a bit more, why does a potent offensive weapon like Swan ride the bench most games?

You should have seen the Wachusett game. He had a merry-go-round of substitutions going on all game long in order to keep a constant full-court press against a Central Mass powerhouse. It worked beautifully, and if Samantha had not gone down with her ankle injury in the 4th quarter, they would have won it going away. As it was, they still almost pulled it off.
