Schools to Eye $51.3M Budget Request Monday

Hearing will outline 2014-2015 Westford school budget.

The Westford School Committee will meet on Monday night to discuss a 2014-2015 budget proposal that includes a 4.27 percent increase request.

According to a 13-page budget overview posted earlier this week on the town’s website, the department will present an overview of its $51,355,160 budget request.

Officials will be asking for additional staff above level service to “meet current student needs.” They include three full-time equivalent (FTEs) special education teacher assistants, a contracted license practical nurse, a preschool teacher and an assistant, both full-time, a SPED van driver, and as well as part-time math teachers, an ELA teacher and part-time staffer for the Bridge Program to address health and injury incidents at Westford Academy.
