Nashoba Tech Duo Win More Video Awards

For the third straight year, a pair of students in Nashoba Valley Technical High School’s TV & Media Production/Theatre Arts program received an award in video production.
And this time, it was a first-place award.
Tori Cafeteiro and Raysam Donkoh-Halm — both seniors — won Best News Piece in the Merrimack Valley Film Festival at an awards ceremony held at Lowell High School.
The 60-second news item was on Nashoba Tech’s Viking Village Mall, which features the in-school, award-winning restaurant, The Elegant Chef, the hair salon, Cosmo Cuts, as well as the school store and the branch of the Lowell Five Cent Savings Bank. The piece was featured on the news program, “This Week at Nashoba.”
This is the third time in their high-school careers that a video the duo co-produced earned widespread recognition.
As juniors, a video Tori and Raysam produced earned an honorable mention in the Fire, Burn and Insurance Professionals’ statewide High School Burn Awareness Video Contest, sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, the Massachusetts Association of Safety and Fire Education, and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.
As sophomores, their video was one of five finalists in the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office’s annual Youth Video PSA Project.
“I still feel amazed that we’ve won three awards,” Tori said.
“And this time, we actually got a trophy,” Raysam added. “Usually, we get a certificate, so this is really nice.”
