Is Limiting Medical Marijuana to Route 110 and 40 The Best Approach?

Towns across the Commonwealth are reviewing potential guidelines for a bylaw that would regulate medical marijuana legalization that was passed by Massachusetts voters in 2012, and Westford's bylaw may be ready for voter purview this spring.

According to a report by the Lowell Sun, the Registered Marijuana Dispensary Committee (RMDC) has discussed potential overlay districts along Route 110 and Route 40 from Tyngsboro Road over to the Chelmsford border, with some restrictions around schools, day care centers and Kimball Farm.

"We can customize a district that would essentially run parallel with commercial-highway and industrial-highway zones," said Planning Board member and RMDC chairman Dennis Galvin to the Sun.

The Committee's latest meeting was at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, with the time and date for the next scheduled meeting currently available as of 10 a.m. on Thursday.
