Former Fire Chief Rochon Evaluated Before Sudden Retirement
Westford requested a report to be conducted on Richard Rochon just months before his sudden retirement
Former Fire Chief Richard Rochon was evaluated prior to unexpectedly announcing his sudden retirement last week after 37 years with the department, the Lowell Sun reports.
The Sun learned that Westford requested last winter that an outside report on Rochon be conducted.
The Sun on Wednesday filed a Freedom of Information Act request for the report. The town is expected to return the public record within 10 days.

The report cost the town $2,500, and its purpose was to look into Rochon’s operations.
A previous investigation was conducted in 2004 on Rochon for alleged sexual assault. The case was closed, and Rochon was not penalized.
When Rochon retired, he received a $29,000 payout. It was for unused vacation and sick time, according to the Sun.
