Gov. Deval Patrick has ordered all U.S. and Commonwealth of Massachusetts flags to be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in honor of U.S. Army Sgt. Myrnairis Bones Cepeda of Boston.

Cepeda was killed on Feb. 2, by a hit-and-run driving outside of Fort Sill, OK. According to published reports, she served overseas in Iraq, Japan, Korea, and Turkey, and spent 11 years as a as a Patriot Missile Technician.

Flags are to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset, at the main or administration building of each public institution in the state (city, or town halls, schools, etc.), all other state-owned or state-controlled buildings with flags, and all state military installations.

Quite right. I saw her mother speak on the news last night; she showed so much poise and dignity, proud of her daughter with the great smile. Rest in peace Sgt. Myrnairis Cepeda.
