Westford has 10 Level 2 and one Level 3 sex offenders who live or work in the community, according to the state Sex Offender Registry Board website.

Massachusetts has three classification levels for sex offenders, Level 3 being for the most severe offenders.

Level 2 and 3 sex offenders pose a moderate or high risk of re-offense, respectively, according to the state. For both levels, “the degree of dangerousness posed to the public is such that a public safety interest is served by public availability of registration information,” according to the state.

More information on sex offenders, including names, addresses and photos, can be found on the state website.

Well, this is not what I wanted to learn about our town. I wonder how they can afford to live here--taxes are super high and so are homes. Sure hope the cops all keep tabs on them and that they stay out of the schools!

Are you under the assumption that all sex offenders are in a lower tax bracket? If so that is not the case.

Sorry in advance if I sound snarky, but you are just "learning" this about your town? One of the 1st things I did when we moved here two years ago was check out that list and I read the police logs to see if there are home alarms, suspicious activity and break in's near my neighborhood. Then you have to worry about EEE, Lyme's, poison ivy (never seen a town with so much PI in my life!), bears, bobcats.....just because our homes go for 600k doesn't mean we're safe. Now that you are aware of this information, have two choices: you can run to the govt. for help, or protect yourself.

Only two of the offenders registered before 2011 actually live in the town. They were born here, and still have family here. Their names, pictures and addresses are available at the PD, and are usually posted at schools and day care centers. The remainder work in Westford and live elsewhere.

The odd thing about the registry is that consists of names of people who have been caught, which, if one wishes to be naive, supposes that the only time they molested a child is the one time they got caught and were convicted. And given some of liberal judges in MA, that in itself is a miracle. In reality, this list is just that: a list of those who were caught and convicted, but how many times did they molest before getting caught, and how many are currently molesting on their way to eventually being caught? So again, I say one has two choices: you can run to the govt. for help, and trust your little kid can dial 911 and hang on for 10 minutes, or you can protect your own family with your Constitutional rights to do so. It's your choice and totally up to you, but I know how I choose to protect my family.
