Westford's Newest Firefighter Graduates From State Academy

He joined a class of 68 new firefighters from 40 departments across the state.

 

Daniel Quirk has joined the Westford Fire Department after graduating the 198th class of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy's sixty-day Recruit Firefighting Program recently at the Department of Fire Services offices in Stow.

Quirk is accompanied by new first responders in Auburn, Bedford, Bellingham, Braintree, Chelmsford, Concord, Danvers, Dracut, East Longmeadow, Framingham, Franklin, Gardner, Gloucester, Greenfield, Holyoke, Hopedale, Leominster, Lexington, Longmeadow, Lowell, Lynn, Mansfield, Mashpee, Melrose, Middleborough, Nahant, North Andover, Northampton, Norton, Orleans, Plainville, Salem, Somerville, Stoughton, Wayland, Westfield,  Winchester, Winthrop and Woburn.

Recruits recieved classroom training as well as practice in non-fire and controlled fire conditions in situations ranging from mailbox fires to ladder operations to carbon monoxide detection.
