Two False Alarms In Same Unit on Pilgrim Drive

The following are excerpts from the Westford Fire Department log for the week of Sept. 30 to Oct. 7


Sept. 30, 4:19 p.m. - Residents within a unit on Pilgrim Drive called the Fire Department after reportedly smelling gas within their building, but the gas could not be found.

Oct. 2, 12:47 p.m. - An illegal burning on a Wilson Farm Road property was extinguished after firefighters told the home owner about burning regulations.

Oct. 3, 4:35 p.m. - More gaseous odors, this time at Edwards Beach in Nabnasset. 

Upon further inspection, the smell came from some gasoline that had spilled in the parking lot, which was described as a "small amount." It was quickly cleaned.

Oct. 4, 7:56 a.m. - In the same unit on Pilgrim Drive that had the alleged gaseous smell, firefighters were dispatched in response to a carbon monoxide detector that went off.

After an inspection, there were no readings, but the homeowner was advised to call if there was another alarm. 

Oct. 5, 10:25 a.m. - There were reports of smoke in the area of Hildreth Street, but it could not be found.
