Two 17-Year-Olds Arrested on Sunday

The following information was supplied by the Westford Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are entries from the Westford Police log for Sept. 21, 22 and 23.

The Westford Police Log is available to the public at the Westford Police station on Main Street, with earlier logs available online at www.westfordma.gov

Additional information is available in certain cases from the Westford Police Records Department for a nominal fee.

Any instances where streets are mentioned without addresses shall be placed on the map as occurring on the first address on that street for geographical convenience unless otherwise stated even though the incident may have happened somewhere else on the street.

Sunday, Sept. 23

5:28 p.m. - Andrew Barsaum, 21, of Bridge Street was arrested during a traffic stop on a previous warrant.

8:21 p.m. - A 17-year-old from Housatonic Avenue in Chelmsford was arrested on alleged operation of motor vehicles under the influence of drugs and light violations.

10:11 p.m. - A 17-year-old from Kirsi Circle was arrested on charges of alleged domestic assault and battery and alleged assault and battery of a person over the age of 60 with a weapon.

Follow Up

Sept. 7, 11:51 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to Boxwood Road for a person who was allegedly walking around with a flashlight nearby in an undeveloped lot.

The alleged flashlight person could not be found, although the officer contacted the lot owner, who asked the officer to check out the lot from time to time "due to nosey neighbors."

Sept. 14, 2:45 p.m. - Police were dispatched to a local garage where a man had an issue with a price on a motorcycle that was repaired.

Apparently, he was unaware that there was a daily storage fee, although the officer on this call told him that the garage was within their rights to charge a storage fee if he did not pick up the motorcycle promptly.

The man paid the fee and left with the motorcycle.

I love reading the police log everyday and it makes me feel good that most of the reports are of the "tamer" nature and not extreme violence. I would like to make a suggestion though, I would like to see the police log start off with the headlining story. The headlines get our attention but then we have to read through disclaimer or this and that before the headline topic. Put all that mumbo jumbo we see in the first paragraphs and put it at the bottom of the page...

Hi Mike, Let me get back to you on that. Also, an announcement -- we'll be posting the names of 17-year-olds arrested from now on due to the fact that they're considered adults under the eyes of the Massachusetts judicial system.
