"Turn Yourself In," Says Man With Accent to Vineyard Road Residents

The following information was supplied by the Westford Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Oct. 23, 10:20 p.m. – One homeowner on Vineyard Road was concerned after a random individual from an unlisted number called saying they would be charged with accounting fraud for no apparent reason.

Officers listened to the message, which was largely indiscernible due to what was described as a very heavy Middle Eastern or South Asian accent although the words “Massachusetts State Police” were understandable, with the officer and homeowner also able to hear that the caller “should turn herself at a local police department, or a warrant for her arrest would be issued.”

While the caller ID did not show the original location of the caller, the caller did give a 410 area code number in the voice mail message.

The woman had called the firewood man on Oct. 21, saying that he had not delivered the proper amount of firewood he had agreed to bring on Oct. 18.

She called later that week after the firewood man did not arrive, with the firewood man saying “he would get to it.”

On this night, the firewood man allegedly made skid marks in the couple’s driveway, which the firewood man later said was due to the steep grade of the couple’s driveway.

At this point, a verbal confrontation ensued, which led to the police call.

Police contacted the firewood man, who said he had delivered the agreed upon amount of firewood and would not go back to the home, as his company did not provide free deliveries and the couple would not agree to pay for him to come back.

The couple requested that the firewood man not return to their property, the firewood man had no issue with this.

Oct. 27, 11:14 p.m. – A series of egg attacks drew the attention of Westford Police, starting with a homeowner on Crusade Road.

That homeowner told police that he was inside his house watching television when he heard something hit out against his house, then hearing a car drive away before he could identify the vandal.

The officer on the call then went to Boston Road for another, and possibly related, egg related incident where four eggs were thrown.

The homeowner there did not see the vandal either.

There were no suspects and no property damage.
