The officer spotted the vehicle tied to a tree, a 25-year-old in-board engine motorboard with an expired 2009 Maine registry.
After searching the area for the owner, the officer boarded the boat to see if anyone was inside and looked for more information on the owner of the boat, eventually finding the owner’s name and contact information.
Dispatch was able to get the owner of the boat in contact with the officer, who alleged the boat had either broken down or was out of fuel and that he could not retrieve the boat until later in the evening.
The officer informed the boat owner he would receive a follow up from Massachusetts Environmental Police, and then the officer called the Maine Environmental Police to confirm the boat’s expired registration prior to giving the information from his investigation to Massachusetts Environmental Police.
