8:45 p.m. - Patrick Raneri, 21, 11 Fourth St., was arrested on charges of alleged armed robbery at Parent's Market on Broadway.

Westford Police reports indicate that Raneri entered Parent's with a hooded sweatshirt and bandana and a firearm in his waistband and soon thereafter asked the clerk on duty to put money into a bag he was carrying.

The clerk recognized Raneri, citing he had known him since childhood, said police.

According to the report, Raneri was shocked his identity was revealed and the clerk started walking toward the door. At this point, Raneri picked up three packs of cigarettes, which the clerk commanded that Raneri put down, which he complied with.

At this point, the clerk told police Raneri left the store on foot.

A subsequent search of the area by the Westford K-9 unit led police to Raneri on Country Road.

The clerk was later transported to identify Raneri, which he did, although the clerk noted that he had made a mistake in describing the color of Raneri's bandana.

The clerk also told police that due to the fact that he was about to close the store for the night, the store's cameras had been turned off shortly before Raneri entered.

Upon further inspection of Raneri, police found that the gun he had been carrying was in fact a BB gun.

Raneri now faces charges of alleged armed and masked robbery. This marks the third arrest this year for Raneri, following one and another .

According to Westford Police captain Victor Neal, the robbery has no connection to , which is still under investigation.
