Nashoba Tech Student Cleared After Presciption Drug Incident

Wednesday, Nov. 14

7:70 a.m. - A warning was issued following a motor vehicle crash at Westford Academy.

Thursday, Nov. 15

12:47 p.m. - Police aided firefighters during a brief structure fire on Lincoln Avenue.

Follow Up

Oct. 16, 10:42 p.m. - A woman on Main Street heard two loud bangs on her window and called the police.

An investigation of the window did not indicate any fresh markings or damage from objects and a search of the area with the Westford K-9 Unit did not turn up anything suspicious.

Oct. 22, 9:41 a.m. - Police were notified of a man driving erratically on Route 2A in Acton who had stopped at Dunkin' Donuts at Westford Valley Marketplace.

According to the man's testimony, he was transporting his wife to Emerson Hospital and was not paying attention. He was given a verbal warning.

Oct. 22, 4:33 p.m. - A black leather Red Sox wallet with $72 inside was found with a driver's license still inside. The owner of the license was contacted and he picked up the wallet.

Oct. 24, 1:34 p.m. - An officer on duty as school resource officer at Nashoba Tech was advised by school staff that a female student had been found crying in the cafeteria and was believed to be under the influence of an unknown substance.

The student's mother arrived at the school and the student was found to be in possession of unspecified pills.

According to the mother, her daughter had been taking these pills under a prescription, but had stopped because they made the daughter "feel funny and more anxious," putting the daughter on a new medication.

However, the daughter felt that the new medication was not working and brought five pills of the old prescription into the school just in case she thought she'd need them.

The school resource officer informed that mother and daughter that the daughter could be charged as a juvenile for posessing the drugs without permission in the school and that a prescription would need to be shown, otherwise she would be processed to Ayer District Court.

The mother was able to obtain the prescription and give it to the officer. The five pills were destroyed, and no medical attention was required during the initial incident.
