Juniper Systems Finds Lost Equipment Being Sold by California Company

The following are entries from the Westford Police log for Oct. 24 and 25.

Wednesday, Oct. 24

10:11 a.m. – A motor vehicle accident was reported on Littleton Road. No injuries were reported.

Thursday, Oct. 25

7:05 a.m. – A motor vehicle crash was reported at Minot’s Corner, followed by another at 9:05 a.m. No injuries were reported at either incident.

Follow Up

Oct. 16, 11:56 a.m. – Police received a call from an official at Juniper Systems saying that they saw a piece of equipment they thought they had lost in 2010 for sale by a company in California.

The piece of equipment, used for internet firewalls, was worth approximately $2,300.

According to the company in California, the item was sold to them by a man from Sutton, MA in 2011 who police later learned was a former employee at Juniper.

Frequent attempts to contact the Sutton man proved fruitless, although eventually his lawyer returned the call, citing that the equipment had been shipped to the Sutton man’s house before he left Juniper and he was willing to compensate the company for the loss.

The officer told the Juniper official this, who responded a few days later saying the dispute had been resolved.

Oct. 18, 2:25 p.m. – An employee at Market Basked called Westford Police after he felt he was being harassed at work.

According to accounts from the officer on the scene, the employee said he was not allowed to call the human resources department, which he felt was a violation of his rights.

The employee’s manager said he was a good worker and could call human resources, just not on the floor courtesy phone.

This resolution was acceptable to the employee.
