Electrical Failure Leads to Smoke on Lyberty Way

The following are excerpts from the Westford Fire Department log for the week of Oct. 7 to 14, 2013


Oct. 7, 9:59 p.m. - A tractor trailer truck was found on an unspecified portion of I-495 Southbound with smoke coming off its brakes. 
A crew was able to cool the brakes.

Oct. 9, 3:57 p.m. - Firefighters investigated reports of a fire at a Cornerstone Square business. It turned out to be a problem with the fire alarm panel. 

Oct. 13, 2:58 p.m. - State police and Westford firefighters were unable to find a reported motor vehicle fire between Exit 32 and 33 along I-495 Northbound.

Oct. 14, 2:24 a.m. - Residents reported smoke coming from a building on Lyberty Way, which was discovered due a failure with a portion of the electrical grid to the nearby area.

Power was shut off to the building, with National Grid later fixing the problem areas.
