Anonymous Caller Says Tennis Coach Yells At Student, Police Respond

The following information was supplied by the Westford Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Sept. 15, 1:35 p.m. – Police were dispatched to a camp for reports of several drunken men using a zip line over a pond.

Three officers arrived to the person who called, saying she saw the men using the zip line without permission.

Officers then talked to the men who said they were former councilors at the camp, and had talked to the camp’s caretaker, although it was unclear if they had permission to do so.

However, the men did not appear intoxicated according to the officers.

The caretaker arrived and said that he was aware other parts of the camp were being used, but not the zipline.

Both men were advised not to use the zip line due to liability issues, and they agreed they would stop.

Sept. 17, 8:22 a.m. – A man on Nutting Road called police to report a breaking and entering incident near the back of his home.

Officers were shown the area where the breaking and entering occurred and observed two large double paned windows that had been shattered in a specific spot.

Everything else appeared in order and it was deduced that the likeliest cause of the window damage came from a landscaping company the previous day, with a possible lawn mower accidentally sending debris toward the window.

Sept. 21, 7:30 p.m. – Near the border of Chelmsford on Littleton Road, a driver called police after he was rear-ended by another car.

The driver said he was heading into Chelmsford and was turning left into a parking lot when struck. There were no injuries.

The person who hit the driver admitted fault, saying he tried to pass a truck in front of him and did not see the driver, who was ahead of the truck.

The person who admitted fault was given a citation. Both vehicles were towed.

Sept. 23, 6:01 p.m. – Police were dispatched to the Robinson School tennis courts for a disturbance following an anonymous call.

Upon arrival, the officer on the call discovered an older man yelling at a boy, saying he should do pushups every time he misses a ball.

The older man explained he was coaching the boy, with the boy saying the man was his father and he enjoyed the lessons.

Both the man and the boy were thanked for their time.
