Tuesday, Sept. 27
5:31 p.m. - Westford Police arrested Richard Debrosky, 27, 52 Concord Rd., near the intersection of Country Road and Concord Road.

According to the officer on the scene, Debrosky was known by the department for previous criminal infractions ranging from motor vehicle infractions to arrests, and he had two outstanding warrants from the Ayer District Court.

Once Debrosky realized he had been spotted, he escaped from his car and ran through the backyard of a local resident, according to police.

Westford Police created a perimeter around the area and eventually caught up with Debrosky on the second floor of a nearby residence.

Debrosky told the officer on the scene that he had been living in Lowell recently in an attempt to evade the two Ayer court warrants, which included charges of credit card fraud and recieving stolen property, according to police.

In addition to the previous warrants, Debrosky was arrested on the additional charges of resisting arrest and failing to stop his vehicle when requested by police.

6:27 p.m. -- Matthew Cote, 32, 385 Worthington St., Apt. 4A, in Springfield, was arrested on Boston Road.

An officer was dispatched to the scene when a motorist behind Cote noticed he was driving on the sidewalk of Boston Road.

Once on the scene, it was observed that Cote's vehicle also abruptly started and stopped with the flow of traffic, accelerating and breaking more rapidly than an average vehicle in comparable conditions, accoridng to police.

The officer came up behind Cote, who by this point cut left onto Main Street through the stop sign on the .

Cote stopped soon thereafter and slumped over his steering wheel, quickly producing his registration, but pausing for 10 seconds before giving his license, at which point the officer observed that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, said police.

When asked where he was going, Cote replied that he was heading home to East Springfield, although he also noted that he thought he was currently in West Springfield, which is approximately 90 miles away from Westford.

The officer asked Cote if he had recently drank any beers, to which Cote replied that he had two earlier in the day. This led to a series of field sobriety tests, which he reportedly failed.

Ultimately, Cote was given a portable breath test by another officer who had arrived on the scene, which concluded Cote had a blood alcohol content level of .25, just over four times the state limit, according to police.

Cote was arrested on charges of driving through a stop sign, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and marked lane violations.
