Pokeweed plants and berries

I noticed these plants in my yard and read some interesting things about them. Most of the Pokeweed plant is toxic to humans but birds are very attracted to the berries. However, as a parent, the colors and shapes of the fresh berries are so pretty, a young child might find them appealing. The ones in our yard have  been removed.
