Nashoba Tech Accepting Applications For C.N.A. Continuing Education Class

WESTFORD — Applications are being accepted for the winter 2014 class of Certified Nurse Assisting at Nashoba Valley Technical High School’s Continuing Education program.

The state-approved course, which is under the supervision of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, offers participants 54 hours of classroom instruction and 21 hours of clinical experience in preparation for the Red Cross CNA test. Only those who successfully complete this course may sit for the certification exam, which includes both practical and clinical testing.

Students will meet Monday and Wednesday afternoons, from 4 to 8 p.m., for classroom and bedside skills study. Upon completion, they will be assigned to work three weekend days for a hands-on clinical rotation at a local, long-term facility under the supervision of the experienced nurse instructors.

Students must pass a reading comprehension and math pretest, and must submit an application for a CORI report before acceptance in the program. Also, students must submit a report of a negative tuberculosis test.
