Green Slime overcome Cheetahs in exciting WYBA HS Girls’ contest

The Green Slime and Cheetahs engaged in one of the most exciting contest for this league.  Nobody could stop Alana Barrett of the Cheetahs but Stacy Shackleton fought back with 19 points.  The Cheetah’s Jess Casey had a 3-point ‘Hat Trick’ while Jess Sullivan knocked in a key 3-point rocket in a key spot.  Both teams were at their best in this game with the Cheetahs just missing a tying basket at the buzzer. 


Jellyfish                                                      44

Blue Angels                                    23


With only five players everyone on the Jellyfish had to play their part.  Both teams played aggressive, especially Danielle Donovan and Carolyn Dolan of the Jellyfish and Nicole Souza of the Blue Angels.  Great rebounds for the Jellies from Abigail Chirokas and by the Angels’ Amanda Brooks.  Swimmingly good shooting from Taylor Freud for the Fishies.  It was a tough game but the Jellyfish swam their way across the court for the win.

Neon Trees                                     20


Both teams played a great game.  The Tigers came out strong with a 3-pointer by Tianna Habosian and great defense by Kayla Rochon and Amy Cavanaugh  The Neon Trees came out strong with Caitlin Glidden and Hailey MacDonald.  Great effort by both teams. 


Green Giants                                    34

Wild Thornberries                  24


While the shots in the first half were not dropping the Green Giants came alive led by Jenna Klinka with 16 points.  The awesome support of Jackie Joncas with 8 points, Kyra Kruger with 6 and Jordan Underwood with 2.  Kayla Flanagan led the defense.  The Wild Thornberries were led by Taryn Chrysikos with strong support from Jillian Chrysikos and Katie Fitzsimmons on the offensive end.  The Thornberries strong defense made this a great game. Blueberry Squirrels                  36

Pink Friday                                    22                 


The Blueberry Squirrels and Pink Friday played a great game -The Squirrels came out on top. Casey Doremus led the Squirrels with 21 points while Ashley Gauthier had 7, Amy Cornelius 4 and Hannah Kullberg 4.  The Pink Friday were led by Emily Perrone with 7 points, Brianna Mills, Georgia McAlister and Ashley Geary with 4 each and Leah Bushey with 2.

Angels                                                      25


The Angels fell from the Heavenly gates in a hard fought fight.  Cheetah girl, Lindsay Bedard, was on the prowl snatching up rebounds.  Hannah Chateauneuf (who incidentally had a huge 3 pointer he previous night) was super on offense and defense.  The Heavenly Gate protector for the Angels, Sarah Russell, had an angelic game with 11 points of offense.

Amazing game between both teams.  Lauren Steel led the Tigers with 22 points followed by Tianna Habosian with 13.  Amazing Hustle by Taryn and Jillian Chrysikos as well as great defense by Sydney Mains.  Awesome job overall by both teams.


Neon Trees                                    38

Green Giants                                    34


Neon Green played the best game of the season beating the Green Giants 8-34.  Neon Green’s rebounding on the offensive end lead to a lot of second chance points.  The scoring was led by Hailey MacDonald and Christina Caviston each scoring 14 points.  Leading the team with rebounds was Liz McAleese and Caroline Rosinski.  Also solid on the defensive side were Ali Loftus, Kaitlin Canha, Lauren Canha, Katie Long and Caitlin Glidden.   The Green Giants were led by Jenna Klinka and Jackie Joncas with 17 and 8 points respectively.


Buttercups                                    24

Pink Friday                                    19


A close game from start to finish saw the Buttercups edge past Pink Friday 24-19.  Pink Friday was led by Leah Bushey and Ashley Geary with 6 points each.  The Buttercups were anchored by great rebounding by Alexa Sullivan and Rebecca Holtom with scoring from Bianca Tardi (8 points) and Rebecca Shepherd (6 points).
