Farmers Not Allowed at the Westford Farmer's Market? Wait, What!? Not a Joke

Just when you think the WFM can not get any bolder or ridiculous, they have decided to banish an actual LOCAL REAL LIFE Farmer who has been with and been an attendee of the market from Day 1.  Only in Westford!

This is directly from the Springdell farm Facebook Page:

Well folks, I thought I would update you on our attendance at Farmers Markets as some of you have been asking! As you know, we have re-routed our focus to concentrate on our CSA programs and Farm Stand but we were planning on continuing to attend the Westford Farmers Market to move some extra product so we could stay away from the wholesale outlets; plus we have been in the Westford Market since the very first day it began. Today, I received a phone call from the WFM Manager that she no longer wished to see us involved in the market because she believes our farm has "gotten to big." Our feelings are hurt and we are very insulted as our farm has not expanded. The only thing that has grown is the foods that we are offering and the mouths that we are feeding because of how diversified our family farm has gotten over the years to ensure the future of this land and a stable job for the family members who have come back to the farm in recent years. We have also been able to offer non-family members from within the community a stable job! When I was a kid, the future of farming was bleak. My mom and I inherited a very run-down parcel of land, infrastructure that was in complete disrepair, run-down fences, old equipment, and a lot of work. We were the little guy on the street (heck, we still are). When we walked out of that lawyers office, we were determined to feed this community and determined to pull the land into the future. Just because we finally own some new equipment (it was hard earned), I am driving around a pick up that is not in the shop everyday, we have a small handful of year round employees, a new farm stand, and a community that supports what we do does not mean that we have "gotten too big." We have a community of shoppers, shareholders, neighbors and friends that depend on this farm and we are constantly doing more to offer more and grow more. We still fit under the "small-farm" description, we still only own 80 acres of that in which we are farming, and there is still a family that is operating the entire business. So in case you are wondering why Springdell is not set up on the Common in Westford come June, know that we did not back out on you; we were told we were no longer a good fit.
