Westford Cancer Survivor Stars in Fashion Show

Parker Village resident Christine Zinke survived cancer earlier this year and recently showed off her style to help others who may face her condition in the future.

One Westford resident joined fellow cancer survivors on the runway as the Friends of Massachusetts General Hospital’s 21st annual Cancer Center fall benefit recently.

Christine Zinke of Parker Village joined Dr. Brian Nahed on the runway to help raise funds for the group, which assists those who need significant surgeries relating to cancer.

She first learned she had a meningioma brain tumor in March of 2013, which fully encased her carotid artery and optic nerves.

Now Zinke is cancer-free thanks to removal of the tumor in April by Nahed, but she needs to continue monitoring in case the tumor regrows.

“Cancer impacts all our lives at some point. Treating the mind, body, and soul is crucial for staying positive during and after treatment for both the patient and their loved ones,” said Zinke. “My support came from my husband, David, my family, and my amazing friends who traveled hundreds of miles to be with me during the first two months of my recovery.”
