Truck Crash Victim Expected to Recover

Westford Police sergeant credited with assisting.

A man who was involved in a crash on Robinson Road last month is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries, thanks to a quick thinking police sergeant, according to a story in The Lowell Sun.

The man, who is 48, crashed a recycling truck into a utility pole that shut down traffic in the area for hours. A police sergeant, Marc Proia, however, pulled the man to safety just as the truck began rolling toward him while he was on the ground. The driver was later medflighted from the scene.

Proia noted that he was just doing “what I had to do,” adding that it happened in a “split second.”
