Tractor Trailer Crash Closes Down Lanes on I-495…

Construction Delays Coming on 495 From Exit 32 to Chelmsford

Mass DOT is reporting that motorists should expect significant delays on 495 from June 3 until the end of the 2012 construction season.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (Mass DOT) reported on Wednesday that motorists should expect significant delays between Exit 32 onto Boston Road and the Chelmsford border from June 3 until the end of the 2012 construction season several months from now.

Construction will include vegetation clearing, ramp work at Exit 32, and work on the bridge over Tadmuck Road.

The project is expected to cost nearly $3.78 million dollars, most of which will be paid by the federal government.

Mass DOT is recommending that motorists find alternate routes during the construction period.

Up to date traffic information is available under the Commute tab on the Westford Patch home page.

Do we know the exact days or nights (and or weekends) that this work will be done? Do we have the exact times also? Also, do we have some where on the Westford Patch alternate routes that people can drive to avoid this Exit 32, the work being performed, and the subsequent backed up traffic that will occur? Enough with the blanket statement of "Massachusetts DOT is recommending that motorists find alternate routes" and we don't help them out with publishing them!

I live at the end of providence rd in westford. It is 11:10 Wednesday June 20. I am listening and seeing the construction while I should be sleeping. Is the exit 32 going to be closer to my house. Until last week when they cut down trees along 495 I could not see the highway and now I hear road noise even more. How about a sound wall. I have been asking for years. My disable daughter suffers from seizures that are triggered by sudden noise. Like construction equipment!

Wow I never realized your road extended that far (close to 495), I am sorry about the issues the construction noise and tree removal (future noise) is causing you. I was recently driving down 495, saw that tree removal and thought it looked nice. I would think the sound walls are state projects, I suggest you get in touch with someone at town hall and even the state rep. Good luck.

The bridge work will include some weekend lane takings. Meaning that 1/2 the I495 lanes over Tadmuck will be closed during a few weekends to make their bridge repairs and then reopen early Monday morning.
